   For our son. On our final day at the hospital, the sun finally came out after days without it. Omar looked up and said, “our son in the sky.” It was so beautiful and heartbreaking, and it stayed in my heart. A heavy listen, but sharing this one is a cathartic release.

    Two Hearts is the first cover I’ve ever put on an album. We recorded the band in Atlanta, and a few months later, during our session with Stokley in LA, we played it for him and asked if he’d sing it with me. He said yes.

13. 13Music In Me (Reprise)

    Last September, I was up at 5 AM almost every day to finish the album. Early morning is my creative time. I’d already been working on this reprise, from an idea we’d found in an earlier session, and I knew it was the way to close the record. One morning, while I was working on Time On You, the birdsong outside was so beautiful that I put a mic out the window and hit record. It’s a reminder that the music is inside me and always will be, and the birds, singing just because they do, felt like the right company for that.
